Each artist was asked to invite a mentor to support their creative process. The mentors involved in the project include: Maima The Water Spirit (Zainab), Aditi Dhruv (Jeevika), Rebecca Gual and Joya Powell (Wendy).

The Dancing Futures Residency is produced by Pepatián: Bronx Arts ColLABorative in partnership with BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance, and supported with generous funding from the Jerome Foundation, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, NYState Council on the Arts.

HOME BASED RESIDENCY 2026 is a professional development residency for early career BIPOC visual artists based in and/or making interdisciplinary, community inspired/site specific work in The Bronx.

PEARL PRIMUS FELLOWSHIP

An inaugural Dance Research Fellowship focusing on the creative work and legacy of Pearl Primus, produced via a new partnership with Pepatián and Ninoska M'bewe Escobar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of New Mexico.

This inaugural fellowship offers paid professional development to two dance artists: Maima The Water Spirit and Christian Warner.
