INDIO MELENDEZ
Indio Melendez, Actor, Writer and Poet, was born and raised in New York City. He is a Desert Storm Veteran, and earned a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Social Work from Lehman College in the Bronx.
Indio is a member of "Spanish Repertory Theater Company" in New York City.
In 2009 he became a member of the Bronx's "Pregones Theater Company" family.
Recipient of the 2008 H.O.L.A Award for ensemble cast in "Dona Flor y Sus Dos Maridos" at Spanish Repertory.
His One Man Show "Manchild Dilemma" earned him a 2007 "Premios Sin Limites" Award. Indio was also nominated for a 2001 Latin Ace Award, as supporting actor in "Vieques" at "Spanish Repertory".
His love for community development has led Indio to become a "Teaching Artist," guiding students in the craft of acting and theater throughout the New York City Public School system.
