VIOLETA GALAGARZA In 1989, Violeta Galagarza founded the non-profit dance company Keep Rising to the Top/KR3T in Spanish Harlem. KR3Ts Dance Company works with young adults of lower to middle income families in Latino communities to develop skills and abilities that will enhance their lives. The company works at the intersection of Hip-Hop and Salsa. Since 1989, the organization has proven 100 percent successful in diverting countless inner-city youth from the perils within their community and has introduced its members to a world beyond the confines of New York City's streets. Those who've often entered the organization's open doors with low self-esteem, and little hopes or dreams, have experienced success beyond imagine. Under the guidance of the company's founder and creative director, Violeta Galargaza, many of the dancers who began their careers with KR3TS as children, teens and adults, have moved on to dance in videos and perform on world tours with stars such as: R&B singers Mario, Chris Brown, Jim Jones, Beyonce, Missy Elliot, Lumi Dee and others. In 2006, famed video game producer, Rockstar Games, a division of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., made history alongside KR3TS. Using motion capture technology for the making of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, the No. 1 selling video game of 2006, KR3TS provided the games choreographed dance moves.
