As a board member of Voices UnBroken and facilitator since its inception over ten years ago, she contributed to the poetry writing workbook called Write Your Way and now uses it at every opportunity to open up the world of poetry, especially to first time writers. This is what La Bruja has to say about the workbook: "WRITE YOUR WAY is a path, with poetic puzzles that unlock your heart. Any person who follows this workbook to enhance their writing emerges a true poet. It makes the connection between poetry and writers effortless, allowing for amateurs to feel like pros of prose." After working with inner-city youth for over thirteen years, La Bruja was inspired to create Latinas 4 Life to help raise awareness and lower the staggering statistic of young Latinas dropping out of school, becoming teenage mothers and attempting suicide. Through the power of self-expression, she has not only seen a growth in self-esteem amongst young people but continues to be inspired and has become a self-proclaimed "Poetician" – one who uses poetry to make positive change for all of mankind.
