Creating Connections: Latina Artists on the Move! offers a documentary film based  on Out of La Negrura/Out of Blackness (http://www.pepatian.org/overview/out-of-la-negrura-out-of-blackness/) created in collaboration by Sita Frederick, Ana “Rokafella” Garcia and Marion Ramirez, along with performances by these three artists.

The three collaborating artists were also involved as co-curators who selected and mentored emerging artists: Odylle “Bgirl Mantis” Beder, Beatrice Capote, Jadele McPherson. All the artists performed together at Pregones Theater, June 2015.

Artists participated in a creative process workshop led by award-winning choreographer Merian Soto (www.meriansoto.com).

In addition, artists taught workshops to teen participants at BronxWorks Community-based organization and at WHEDCo/Bronx Music Heritage Center’s Bronx Summer Fest on the Boulevard 2015.

In future, we hope to use this model of engagement with film showings, teaching, mentoring, and performing to spark other opportunities to continue to connect.
