Antonio Ramos was born and raised in Puerto Rico where he learned Jazz, Salsa and African dance. He received a B.F.A. in Dance from Purchase College/SUNY.
Antonio has performed in New York City with many award-winning choreographers: Arthur Aviles, Mark Dendy, Ori Flomin, Neil Greenberg, Kari Hooas, Luis Lara, Jeremy Nelson, Stephen Petronio, Merian Soto, Kevin Wynn and Donna Uchizono, among others. Most recently he danced with John Scott and the Irish Modern Dance Theater.
His choreography has been produced at The Kitchen (Dance and Process), Dance Theater Workshop (Fresh Tracks, Split Stream), La Mama, SUNY/Purchase, Dixon Place, P.S. 122, Danspace Project at Saint Mark’s Church, DanceNow Downtown, Princeton University, Judson Church, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Galapagos Art and Performance Space, Williamsburg Art Nexus, and with a residency at Lexington Center for the Arts.
His work been produced by Pepatian in multiple productions: Fringe Festival 2000 at Theatre La Chappelle (Montreal,Canada), and in collaboration with the New York State Dance Force at The Painted Bride (Philadelphia PA), multiple residencies and showings at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY), and in the Bronx at BAAD!/Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance, Lehman College and Pregones Theater.
He had received a grant from the Edward and Sally Van Lier Fund through Movement Research and was recently nominated for United States Artist fellowship for 2010.
Antonio also is fully accredited massage therapist with his own successful practice.
